Fax Center Send & Receive
Yes, people still fax — especially in healthcare and legal. VoicerOnePBX has a full fax system built in. It sends and receives faxes over the internet using the T.38 standard, with no separate fax line or third-party fax service.
Three ways to fax
Software fax
Upload a PDF in the Fax Center (or via the API) and it's sent as a fax. Incoming faxes arrive as PDFs in your inbox.
Physical fax machine
Plug a real fax machine into a Grandstream HT analog adapter and send paper the old-fashioned way — the PBX carries it over T.38.
Fax to email
Received faxes can be emailed to the right person automatically as a PDF attachment.
Setting it up
- Have a fax-capable trunk. With voip.ms, that's the dedicated fax sub-account — only it negotiates T.38.
- Point the fax DID at the Fax Center in your inbound routes.
- To send: open the Fax Center, choose a PDF, enter the destination fax number, and (optionally) add a cover page.
Fax was designed for old phone lines and hates packet loss. T.38 was built to carry it reliably over IP, and VoicerOnePBX handles the timing and retransmissions so pages arrive intact. Failed sends retry automatically.
Connecting a paper fax machine through an analog adapter (like the Grandstream HT801) works, but analog fax is finicky by nature. For the most reliable results, software fax (PDF in / PDF out) is the recommended path.
